Problems with high temperatures

We are very fortunate to be in the right time on the right place. Such climatic event happen only twice or three times per year over Barcelona.

Every day early in the morning, before sunrise, we open the hangar doors and prepare airplane and instruments for measurements. Temperature during the day is high above 36 degrees Celsius, but in the morning drops to 26 or even lower. But just above 300 meters temperature rise to 33 deg. What might cause problems with fuel pressure we are experiencing every day. Vapor lock is a knowing problem in hight temperatures when fuel get boiled before carburetor. This could cause engine stop and also can be part of the problem with unstable fuel pressure indication. So we have to be careful when flying in such high temperature environment in the Sahara dust clouds. We are very fortunate to be in the right time on the right place. Such climatic event happen only twice or three times per year over Barcelona. So DAAP research project with lead partner Aerosol d.o.o. is going well so far and results are high above expectations. Griša Močnik downloads data every day and seems to be very satisfied.

Close to Barcelona, A class airspace prevent us to fly over the city
Today we got another instrument on board

With Domen we change seats every day. On the left side is pilot on the right seat is operator
Grisa has a long check list to check before each take off
